A bad start to the day as Fozzy lost three players from 4.00pm onwards, a few phone calls later and the young guns were drafted in as Adam Pickersgill and Sammy Haynes were drafted in for their first team debuts.
This is a fixture that was doomed never to go ahead, with two cancellations all ready we all thought that the man upstairs had really got the hump with us as seconds before kick off the Spencer floodlights failed, a few phone calls later and we were told there will be about a twenty minute delay so that they can be repaired.
We finally kicked off around 8.30 and as so many times before we started really quick, within five minutes Paul Currier put us in the lead only for the man in black to rule the goal out saying that he had kicked the ball out of the keepers hands, from were I was and most other people it looked like Spencer's keeper spilled the ball and Currier just followed up, but that’s the way our luck is going at the moment.
We never looked like conceding at the back as we took the game to Spencer, that was until we conceded a free kick on the edge of our area, Another challenge which most thought the player had taken the ball led to our down fall as whilst they were still arguing over the decision Ben Foster’s quick free kick gave Spencer the lead.
Moments later Adam Pickersgill challenged for a ball and was caught by an accidental elbow on the back of the head and was knocked out cold, Not what we needed as he was proving to be one of the more productive players on the park marking an impressive debut, still plenty of time for Adam at only 17 he has a big future. A trip to the hospital followed where after several x rays he was given the all clear.
1 - 0 down at half time and we were unlucky at that, the second half performance was to be better than we could have dreamed of as time and again we mounted attacks on the Spencer goal, we could not just find that finishing touch. We thought we had found the equaliser as a goal-bound header looked to have rippled the top of the net but the officials were in a better place to see than us. Matty Cox had a shot go just wide and there were many more efforts that could have drew us level, so much was Fords domination of the second half that Andy Millard in the Ford goal only touched the ball twice in the second half.
All that said we still didn’t find the back of the net so Spencer went away with all three points. Again the lads proved that when they're on their game they can compete with the top sides in the division, they just need to add some consistency.
