Tuesday 14th November

Ford Sports Daventry  1  v  1  Newport Pagnell Town

Fords: Anthony Yates, Tim Clack (Ben Collins), Steve Thompson (Lewis Waldock), Richard Crockett, Alan Haynes, Rob Steele, Paul Currier, Ian Waldock, Tommy Waldock, Johnathan Crockett, Frank Maher (Adam Pickersgill).

Newport Pagnell : Joe Purcell, Nick Doherty (Ben Smith), Joe Ramscar, James Fletcher, John Thorpe, Rob Tapp (Lee Tinsley), Drew Mitten, Michael Riley, Vinny Shrieves, Richard Armstrong, Tony Hill.

On a typical wet and windy November evening at the Royal Oak Fords managed to add to their points tally,

With the wind and driving rain blowing across the Royal Oak pitch neither side looked as if they were going to take too many chances.

Newport had the first strike at goal brining the best out of Anthony Yates in the Fords goal as he dived full length to his right to push the ball wide, Johnathan Crockett then made Joe Purcell spring into action as his thunderous 25 yard drive was turned around the post.

Apart from two half chances for Paul Currier that was the best of the action from the first half and the two sides went in at half time all square.

Coming out playing against the wind for the second half Fords were managing to break Newport down more often than in the first half and were rewarded when Johnathan Crockett headed home a Stephen Thompson cross.

Unfortunately a scrappy piece of defending allowed Newport's Vinnie Shrieves to poke home the equaliser in the last minute.

We could still have won this game as Paul Currier managed to get in behind the Newport Defence only to see his header flash wide of the open net.
