With the weather playing havoc with fixtures Fords visit to top of the league Deeping was a welcome but daunting fixture, in the middle of what is going to be a tough string of fixtures Fords again proved that they are slowly but surely improving with every game.
Fords started the brighter of the two sides with Ashley Robinson striking the crossbar with his long range effort, Paul Currier then had his shot well saved by Deeping's Danny Bircham.
Not many decisions went Fords way and this proved to nearly be their undoing as the Deeping forward backed into Frank Maher and the official adjudged Maher to be going over the top and awarded a penalty.
Andy Millard guessed right and made a fantastic full length save to deny Deeping the lead, this was short lived as again Fords gave away a free kick on the edge of the area, John-Paul Duncliffe's shot was low and in the corner and Millard could not reach it.
Fords continued to battle hard in the second half and had chances to draw level but just couldn’t find the finishing touch.
The final action in this match was another penalty to Deeping, no arguments with this one but with four minutes left, it left Fords with no way back into this game.
