HILLIER SENIOR TROPHY

Ford Sports Daventry : Andy Millard, Timmy Clack, Rob Steele, Richard Crockett,  Lewis Waldock, Ian Waldock, Frank Maher, John Crockett, Liam Hynes, Paul Eden, Paul Currier : SUBS : Alfie Morris, Barry Mead, Duncan Harris.

First game back at the Royal Oak and a great performance from the lads, we started brightly with Liam Hynes and Paul Currier going close.

After the heavy defeats in the last two fixtures you wouldn’t believe it was the same side as we kept hold of the ball and looked really solid at the back.

Jonathan Crockett dropped back into the back four and along side brother Richard never looked in trouble all night.

Lewis Waldock made a solid return form injury and with Paul 'Sniffer' Eden also back from a toe injury we are again looking like the side we were three weeks ago.

35 minutes in Fords pressure on the S&L goal told when Paul Currier smashed the ball into the back of the net to give Fords a well deserved lead to send them into break ahead.

More of the same in the second half saw Fords extend there lead when Alfie Morris saw his shot rebound off the post and into the path of Paul Eden who made no mistake with the finish, straight after the re start S&L replied through Dominic Johnson who was believed to be well offside.

Still Fords pressed and with 5 minutes to go Paul Currier was brought down and the referee had no choice but to award the penalty, Paul Eden stepped up and was unlucky when his shot hit the underside of the bar.

Fords finally put the game out of reach when a Timmy Clack free kick caused confusion in the box and an own goal was conceded
