When these sides met just over a fortnight ago it was a very tight encounter with United eventually coming away with all three points after a late brace. This game was a bit quicker to get going as Bugbrooke sprang United’s defence with a cheeky back heel for John Dawson to chase onto and he made no mistake with the finish. This was a wake up call for United and they started to play some neat football in a bid to draw level. On twenty minutes the pressure told as Tim Knowles took a wild swing at a clearance and glanced the ball past the stranded Bugbrooke keeper.
The rest of the first half saw both sides have chances but neither could gain the breakthrough.
United came out for the second half with a bang and with only three minutes gone, Tommy Waldock ran onto a through ball and rounded the keeper to give United the lead. Three minutes later, United extended the lead when Wayne Richardson smashed the ball home from close range.
With United cruising this one the only thing that could beat them was themselves. With ten minutes to go, Bugbrooke pumped a high ball into the box, United’s Shaun Allen misjudged the flight of the ball and Steve Aslett poked the ball home to reduce the deficit. United were not finished though, and with five minutes to go, Tommy Waldock burst through the Bugbrooke defence and smashed his shot over the advancing keeper into the top corner of the net for United’s fourth and Waldock's thirteenth of the season. But more importantly three more points!
