With all the rain we had at the beginning of the week you could not blame people for ringing to see if this match was on, but with two dryish days and some fairly heavy winds the pitch looked pretty good, heavy but more than playable.
After last weeks defeat it was nice to bounce back with a convincing win over Buckingham, who, like ourselves are in the thick of it at the base of the table.
With the wind behind them Buckingham failed to convert early chances and the first half of this contest was mainly a midfield scrap, Buckingham came closest as Aston Goss shot went just wide and Ford keeper Andy Millard had to produce a reflex save when the ball bounced up of the pitch from a harmless shot, other than that the first half was played in the middle of the park.
The second half however exploded into action as early as the 50th minute, good work down the right flank from Tommy Waldock put Danny Wright in and he made no mistake with a left foot drive past the Buckingham keeper, seconds later Wright sprung the offside trap and laid the ball off to Tommy Waldock and his shot flew just over the bar.
Two minutes after the first goal the younger Waldock again crossed for brother Ian who blasted the ball into the back of the net to double Fords advantage.
Simeon Nembhard hit the bar on 64 minutes followed by that man Tommy Waldock 4 minutes later who hit the upright, Matty Cox and Paul Currier were introduced to the game and made an instant impact with Cox’s surging runs down the right flank causing more problems for the Buckingham defence, it was one of these runs that produced Johnathan Crockett's goal and Fords third of the game.
Andy Millard made a stunning save late in the game in what was Buckingham only chance in the second half, Paul Currier eventually managed to make the score sheet when his quick fire double 88 and 90 minutes sealed a convincing victory for the motormen.
Robbie Steele made a commanding return to action and was just pipped for Man of the Match by Tom Waldock
