Daventry: Roger Leeson, Rob Steele, Leigh Roberts (Aidy Pestell), Ross Irvine, Allan Haynes, Wayne Richardson, Michael Parkes, Jamie Jollands (Matt Higgins), Tommy Waldock, Liam Hynes (Richard Price), Joel Young.

United went into this game of the back of an unbeaten January and needed to keep the run going if they were to stay in contention. Buckingham, although a lot of games behind most teams could well have proved to be spoilers.

Buckingham started the brighter but it was an end to end pitch sweep that brought about Ian Waldock's first goal of the game when he finished off a Joel Young centre to give United the lead. Buckingham never eased off but United were still creating the better chances and went further ahead through Ian Waldock on the half hour when his low drive from twenty yards went in off the post.

A defensive mix up led to Buckingham's reply one minute after as Reuban Max Grant’s height advantage caused havoc in the defence and as United tried to clear the ball, Max Grant poked the ball home. The fight back was short lived as top goal scorer Tommy Waldock rounded the Robins keeper and slotted the ball home to give United a 3-1 advantage at halftime.

The second half was quite a dour affair compared to the first 45 minutes but the entertainment continued in the ensuing battle. United extended their lead through Tommy Waldock in the 74th minute to wrap this game up, although the Robins managed a consolation second through Ammourroso late on.

This was an important three points at the beginning of a very big February for United’s promotion push, with games against Huntingdon, Sileby, and Olney coming up they will have to earn there promotion the hard way.
