It came as no shock when Jonathan Crockett signed for Long Buckby on the eve of this fixture, but central midfield is not a position that we are short on cover in so it will also not cause us too much disruption, with Liam Hynes returning from holiday Tommy Waldock played in the hole for this fixture.

Fords exploded into action with Danny Wright and Paul Currier closing down the Bourne defence and forcing them into an early mistake, the ball broke to Tom Waldock and he played a perfect ball into the path of Currier, as Currier flashed his shot in a Bourne defender made a brave tackle to block the shot.

Then on six minutes Tom Waldock again set Currier free, his chip went agonisingly wide of the post.

In the 30th minute Currier was booked for persistent fouling then soon after Cox was booked for decent. Millard in the Fords goal was mostly redundant in the first half such was Fords domination.

The second half started pretty much were the first ended when on 50 minutes Simeon Nembhard flashed a shot in on goal which hit a defender first then was cleared off the line, Bourne still had not had a clear shot on goal, Fords defence was at its scrooging best with on loan Centre half Martin Hier instantly fitting into the space left by Robbie Steele (On Holiday) alongside Alan Haynes and Frank Maher.

Nembhard was at his twisting turning best as he left three of Bourne’s defence in his wake and lashed the ball across the face of goal, all it needed was a touch but Waldock, Cox and Currier all failed to connect.

With one minute left on the clock Matty Cox picked up his second yellow of the game and was ordered off the pitch so Fords saw out this game with only ten men, another valuable point in the bag but could have so easily been three.
